Oshkosh P-Series 4x4 Snow Plow with Tag Axle
Presented here is the 1:50th scale Oshkosh P-series 4x4 heavy duty dump truck with tag axle and detachable snow plow. The model features realistic rubber tyres with detailed tread pattern and fully working steering on all three axles allowing crab steering to be performed.
The cab interior is visible through the clear windows and opening doors and features everything found on the real machine, down to the smallest details like the windscreen wipers on the front and side windows, the lights and warning beacon fitted to the roof and the detailed rear view mirrors. What is surprising is that every detail on the model is made from metal and there is hardly any plastic.
The engine covers on each side of the bonnet can be opened to reveal the detailed Caterpillar engine block and associated components. The front grill is etched and the radiator can be clearly seen inside. The drive train is fully reproduced and links the engine to the front and rear axles through the transmission block. All axles are authentically sprung to provide fully working suspension with detailed wheel hubs and rubber mud guards complete with full Oshkosh markings
The dump body can be raised and features an opening rear door with operational locking bar and chains. There is even a small working coal door that can be opened. The level of detail is far superior to most 1:50th scale models on the market and attention to detail is complete, right down to the protection bar which can be raised to lock the dump bed in the raised position for maintenance work.
The paint finish is excellent and all warning labels and markings have been added to the model. The front of the model features a mounting to fit the supplied snow plow which is finely detailed with working bogie wheels and functioning angle and height adjustment. While the plow face is made of plastic, the blade wear edge is made from metal with a flexible rubber top edge.
The model is packaged in a two piece polystyrene box which holds the model securely. The outer cardboard box is printed with pictures and details of the P-Series truck. A small brochure is included in the box with details and specifications of the real machine.
