Bucyrus 8750 Dragline Bucket "CQMS"

Presented here is the limited edition 1:50th scale CQMS Dragline Bucket for the Bucyrus 8750 walking dragline. The bucket comes complete with drag chains and main lift chains and is decorated in a very interesting paint job, with only 100 pieces produced.

The two main drag chains consist of 23 chain links connected to the cast assembly block where the main drag ropes from the winches connect. The other end of the chain connects to the front of the bucket where a pivoting connector piece is fixed in place.

The top spreader piece is used to keep the side chains apart and the links are riveted into position before more chain links are used to connect to the main lift casting.

The parts appear to be made from brass and the individual links have cross bars cast into each of them.

The rear chains connect to the bucket sides and is pinned in place, with a cover added over the pin to prevent removal which is a little dissapointing as it would have been better to allow the chains to be removable to use the bucket as a transport load.

The artwork on the bucket sides has been very nicely done and really stands out, giving the model a more interesting appearance on the shelf.

The bucket is very heavy and solidly constructed with the bottom, side and rear surfaces accurately detailed with realistic looking wear protection. The front teeth are also finely detailed with bolt fixings and textured wear plating all visible.

The shape of the bucket is very different to the other dragline buckets, featuring a wider footprint with a lower height and contoured back section.

The paint finish is reasonable but not quite up to the usual high standards that I would expect from TWH as there were several paint chips on the model.
